My current systems, or whats left of them are portable and I can't complain about the power available but I do look forward to getting something mounted for convenience eventually. That's the trade off, portable and tracking for max power whenever the sun shines, but you have to deal with the hassle of handling and storage OR hands off and convenient but lose a good chunk of power daily just to be lazy. My plan is to mount enough on the roof that I wont miss the power of the portables.
There's no way I am going to mount panels on my roof, when the possibility of trading up on a bigger TT or 5th wheel might be in my future. You'd take a huge hit on depreciation with the system you just installed. Not worth it to me, so I am sticking with portable panels for now. Maybe forever. EDP roofs don't last forever either, pulling panels for a reroof job, no thanks.
