If it was a Dodge, I'd say it was the Mopar ignition module and system.
It could be possible that there are two separate issues - one the starting and two the roughness.
Is it possible you have some carbon build up in your system? My mom used to drive a steady speed consistently and would get build up - my dad used to have to take her car out once every couple months to burn it out.
When you check the spark, is it bright and steady? Is it sparking consistently? Or is it weak and/or intermittent? If it's the former, then it could have more to do with the roughness rather than the ignition system - could be the carburetor needs work. If the latter, then I'd start with the easy fixes: module, coil, distributor, and then go from there.
