Ok, I don't know if this can help or not but I had an 86 Itasca with a P30/ 454. It was running fine for a fairly long vacation. I pulled in a campground in Neb. and shut it off. The next morning it would not start (no spark) changed the spark coil with no improvement. I saw a white ? wire that plugged on to the dist. cap that I had no clue what it did so I unplugged it and the engine fired right up! I never figured out what that wire did but the engine ran fine for several years until I traded it off! That was a long time ago so I may not remember the color of the wire or exactly where it was plugged in.
