SOLVED!....sort of. Where's there's spark.. there's no fire!

As Bud points out, that HEI Coil beds down into the top of the Cap and the spark voltage transfers from a button on the bottom of the Coil to a button on the recess of the cap where the Coil sits. The buttons line up with the center terminal that lines up with the center of the Rotor.

I agree with making sure the Crank/Cam/Distributor are all in sych. If the cam and crank don't dance like Fred and Ginger it's possible to bend the valves.
