Just a thought relating to the OP's stuck throttle: Check for a broken motor mount. Under power the motor will lift and can pin the throttle. It can also cause the distributor to bump into the firewall which may have contributed to whatever is wrong now. Distributor timing and/or gear slipped?
Have you checked if the distributor simply got rotated from where it was? Is the clamp bolt tight?
43 degrees is pretty close to 45, which is exactly 1 out of 8. You sure your distributor or cap isn't turned so all the wires are off by one?
