Call the GM dealer and see what a re-man distributor costs and its availability.
Then try NAPA.
Three dollar a gallon gasoline is no place to "save" forty dollars, then spend a thousand plus dollars on excess gasoline because the reman distributor facility is screwier than a ----house rat. Distributor rebuilding is an art form and cheapo rebuilding facilities DO NOT CHECK THE MECHANICAL OR VACUUM ADVANCE CURVES NEVER MIND TRY AND FIX THEM TO FACTORY SPECS. These sweat shops would not know a distributor test machine (Like the old SUN) if one crawled up and bit them in the ass.
The hole in your distributor shaft is elongated. The bushings are worn, the HEI module transistors have pulsed several hundred million times if not billions. The insulation of the coil secondary will no longer pass hi-pot.
Give it a rest and get the whole shootin' match the deep-six. Delco will throw away everything but the housing and start fresh. But then again you might want a new HEI module from Chopstick Principality China. The Flying Dragon #81 facility. The one that closed last week. Remember, new distributor has lifetime warranty!
