I had thought a single tooth skip may not cause such havoc as I had heard of hot rodders advancing cam timing on purpose.
Sounds like I was mistaken.
to be clear when the timing belt jumps, for me it always seemed to retard timing
i ended up advancing it to get it to run
remember the timing chain runs the CAM shaft, so and driven by the crank
so when the chain jumps it throws out the valve timing, not just spark
you move the Distributor to get it to run, so its not firing thru a valve
but the piston and valves are NOT in time
compression is not correct when the spark fires
