SOLVED!....sort of. Where's there's spark.. there's no fire!

did you get it running? if not, remove the coil on top of that hei and see if there is carbon on the sides of it. my p30 had a couple of bad wires and was cross firing through the coil to the pins in the cap from the coil side. backfired through the carb bad. wires cap and coil fixed it like new. I also thought I needed a new dist. before I found the coil with carbon all over it. Those HEI's make enough voltage, if a wires bad, it's going to go somewhere.
