Spinning the distributor 270 degrees to keep the rig running means the orientarion of the rotor index keptvretarding. IT NEVER ADVANCES EVEN WHEN A NYLON TOOTH GEAR OR CHAIN GIVES WAY. If you have ever touched an engine with your very own fingers and got the cam timing off one tooth you ain't drining your freakin' rig home no matter how much you twist the distributor.
Send Kendall a few hundred dollars so he can pay a few hundred dollars to have the distributor pressed apart. Then you will see exactly where and how 10,000 to 1 oddity takes place. Even sadder now you need to send even more money because no one will accept a disassembled core. One section of the distributor slipped. SH-T HAPPENS. That's part of life like me fixing my Honda distribututor in the Parking Lot of the peachtree restaurant on I-5. With the only tool I could find. A rusty nail
Used the head to unscrew the distributor cap screws. Used the nail to pry up on the 3 wires going to the pickup module. Engine started. Found piece of gravel and wedged it inder harness and drove it that way for 50,000+ miles. Replace distributor and go on to new and exciting things. Like RVing
