Again, I would remove all plugs and rotate pulley so piston 1 is at TDC. This should coincide with the rotor making connection to plug 1 and the pulley notch aligns with the timing mark.
It shouldn't be that hard to rotate engine with plugs out. You can watch the plugs spark and then verify piston is at its high point. Some 50 years ago I used to time motorcycles from the position of the piston.
And again... been there, done that back on pg 3 or something.
