Turns out it appeared to be re-tarding. The drive required more and more counterclockwise turns to keep on truckin'.
If the distributor body is not slipping at its hold down clamp, and is not slipping at the roll pin/gear, the only place left is the magnetic 8 point reluctor is slipping on its mounting to the shaft. You might check there if not already. I would say that or the electronic module being the problem. Keep us posted.
