SCHOOL. The 55 and 66 amp 12SI alts HAD AN INFERIOR ROTOR WINDING SPOOL. The 7278 and 7294 rotor spools were fully wound with wire. The 66 amp was not and that was the only difference between the 66 and 78 amp alternators. Kapisch? Your motorhome came with a 66 amp from the factory. unless you upgrade the rotor, trash the 12 SI project utterly. Horribly inferior low RPM performance.

I was aware of the adapter wire harness required when switching from a 12SI to a CS. IIRC... a resistor is needed with the CS.
I appreciate the referral, as well... and I may opt for that route.
However, I'm confused...
1. You say the 78 and 94 have the full wind. But earlier you called the 94 a piece of junk. So is the 7278 also a piece of junk? Or just the 94?
2. If my guy says he can rebuild the 66 and bump it up to either a 78 or 94, would he not be upgrading it to a full wound rotor spool?
