Thanks for clearing up the differences in those 3 12SI configurations, Mex.
Well I called Romaine. The receptionist was not aware of an Alan. The number you gave me appeared to be correct. The receptionist did answer "Romaine Electric." She was very pleasant.
I also did find that the belt is not a V. It's a 6-rib.
Here's a good page on it.
And below is a shot from that page. The belt covers the water pump, alternator and smog pump. Visually... it seems to me that this configuration doesn't allow for a whole lot of surface area for the alternator as it is, let alone if the power was bumped up a whole lot. Of course this is by no means an expert opinion based on facts. Just a subjective observation. And FYI: The drawing does correlate well to what my own eyes see inside that doghouse... sans the fan blade, of course. :)
If correct, then the simple answer is to up the 66 to a 78, change out the fan to a 13 sharp-bladed with proper spacing, call it good and get back on the road.
