Well I'm glad you feel you can share these kinds of things with me, Mex.
I just picked 'er up. Complete cleanup, rebuild and paint for 75 bucks. Oh... and I torqued the tensioner bolt off, so they drilled it out and tapped it to SAE for me on spec too. For giggles I told him I would pay to watch another bench test. Analog meter showed 75A. Hard to gripe about that for 75 bucks, eh? No charge for the additional bench test.
Oh... and... I forgot why, but he said it's probably been limping along for some time now. And he verified it's likely the original.
As I suspected, that fan was the only one he had. He didn't recall it ever being on a 10DN of any age. Said this one was off a Ford, which I thought you had said at some point also. He did look them up and verified that they're discontinued. And it did whistle just a hair on the bench, but barely noticeable. Doubt I'll ever hear it over the engine.
Now I have a 100K mile alternator to put back in a 30 year old, 105K Winnebago I'm considering replacing. Woohoo?
