You might be able to put out a small fire with a blast of compressed pure nitrogen.
Compressed air is actually classified as a hazardous material by DOT---as an oxidizer, hazard class 5.1.
Compressed air contains no more O2 than what you're currently breathing or would already be present in a NASCAR pit. Also, compressed air is a DOT 2.2 non flammable gas and is nowhere near as dangerous as the peroxides and such that are class 5.1.
