It has been a long time since I have sparked such humor in a thread. Thank you all for adding common sense to my thought process. Sometimes when your trying to solve a simple issue, you get tunnel vision
Basically I have a 50 amp service in the back left of the RV with one of those Round connections. All I want to do is disconnect it, and run a new line so its in the storage bay. I will be installing a new round Marinco plug in the storage bay, and using my 50 to 30 amp adapter to use a much easy to handle 30 amp cord. We only have 1 AC so need for 50 amp will be rare.
The adapter I was thinking about would have allowed me to install a flat receptacle in the storage bay instead of the Marinco...
But I now see the light.. Thanks again for not making mamma bear a very rich woman as she cashes in the life insurance policies :-)
OK, I would go ahead and relocate the 50A to the storage bay (basically disconnecting the existing bulk head connector).
Use a 50A bulkhead connector in the storage bay.
Then make one lighter 30A cord and keep your existing 50A cord for those places that have 50A connections.
This gives you the option of either service without the usage of adapters.
The reason to keep the 50A, well simply put most campgrounds the 30A sockets are just plain worn out causing severe overheating of your 30A plug..
I have personally quit using campground 30A plugins because they were ruining my 30A plug. I bought a 50A to 30A adapter and now my 30A shore cord is plugged into the campgrounds 50A outlet. The result is no more melting plugs...
