The plan is if we are somewhere that requires heavy load such as AC etc, I will hook to the 50 amp service. If we have light loads I want the flexibility to use just the lighter 30 amp cord as well as hook to the generator during boon docking. This as well puts the power mid ship instead of all the way in the back.
By disconnecting the existing 50 amp service in the back, and running a new one, this allows me to put it back to factory when needed and take my hard wired surge guard with me.
I have several 30-50 and 50-30 adapters to use already from our old DP and many years of RVing.
Transfer switch was a thought a month or so ago, but decided against it for simplicity reasoning.
