Speciallized GPS ?

I'm looking for a dash mount GPS that will "back track" when off any main road.
I have a HH etrex legend HC that will do it if you can figure it out first of all, and if I could see it 2nd of all. There has to be something better. Anyone know of such a one in dash mount.....maybe 3" screen ? I have 2 dash mounts neither will do coordinates or back track.
  • Turn on the "tracking" feature. I don't know of a Garmin that does not have one. It will leave a blue line that you can follow back. It keeps the track until tracking memory is used up then starts to delete the oldest tracks to make room for the new ones.

Free Android phone - provider gives some every few years, free NavFree app from Google Play Store, free downloaded maps of any state or province or country. Voice guidance. As soon as I deviate from the route, it guides me back - not always via the same road though. Unpleasant female voice. Didn't try what you asked about, but it allows setting current location as "home" and then use the option "route here". Free maps from OpenStreet are lacking details sometimes, not to mention POI. No data connection required - didn't even activate that Android, still use the old cell phone.

6 years old Garmin stays in my kayaking bag, don't think I need it on the road.

blue line that is left where i go, i can follow it back... the line stays about a month.

Same thing on my TomTom 720GO
