The expensive 300 amp Siemens panel I bought for the hotel 15-years ago had AL conductors. I was careful assembling stuff from the mufa the service drop. Silicone grease, breakers saturated inside and out with corrosion spray, and lead tinned wire ends. Even the ground rod copper plated steel was coated with lead then the earth green 4 gauge was pure lead soldered to the rod. Too much salt everywhere. The Canadian idiots that had the contractor build the place either ignored the fact that salt laden sand and gravel was a death sentence or they did not care. Today the place is a decomposing ruin. Thieves have stripped much of the electrical.
The absolute best coating for salt immersion is low sulfur tar. It is perpetual in longevity and impossible to access. The engine fumes within the gen shed render the area similar to a sea going diesel engine room. I keep a one pound bag of silica gel inside the Trace inverter and inside the Belkin transformer charger. The sea air is so potent it rots holes in motor vehicles and removed the hydraulic brake lines on my diesel pickup which was scrapped. An overhang parking structure is vital. A quality receptacle has a lifespan of less than a year inside a house and USB CABLES are not much better. DeOxit is a lifesaver. High surf and onshore breezes are the culprits.
