Battery - Ignition switch - starter relay - starter solenoid - series connection through field and armature in starter motor.
Use due caution and check components by BYPASSING them with a bridging wire before passing-OK or condemning the component. Start from switch side and work towards the starter.
If starter used an integral solenoid I tied a fender-mount type ford solenoid in the circuit to fire the starter motor mounted solenoid.
