When that happens, you usually have an igniter wire off or the wire has a slight crack in it and it's shorting to the stove pan. Access the burner area and check the wire and then put something non-conducting between the wire and the stove pan. if it lights then, remove the wire and take it to an electrical supplier for replacement. You'll have to get end terminals and crimp them on. An emergency repair can be made with a few dabs of Liquid Tape (easily found in automotive area of Wal Mart) once you find the cracked insulation area.
