strange refridg problem

Our dometic rm362 (antique,I know) works just fine on 110v or propane when we are parked, but when we start driving, using propane, the temperature will get as high as 75 or 80 degrees internally. when we stop, temp goes back down again either propane or 110v. Weird right?
Again, sitting still cold, moving gets hot. Any ideas?

  • I'll check out the roof vent and insulation. I did see some that might be an issue.
  • Temp setting on MAX (which allows maximum gas flow/largest flame) and Flame still lit when you park ---doesn't blow out ----- then issue is with draft.

Check that roof venting for obstructions.

Check if you have any loose insulation that could be blown down from wind currents while traveling.

    Problem is draft related.
  • Anything on the roof, behind the vent
    Like a storage pod ?
Have you removed the vent cover and looked for obstructions
    Like birds nest, or leaves
  • It's an older class C with a roof vent. We turn it up to max, and the flame does not go out. I've thought about he possibility of a down draft but I can't figure out where it would come from. The roof vent appears to be just fine.
  • What type of vehicle/rv is fridge in?
Venting.....roof vent or upper side wall vent?

When you travel do you turn fridge setting to MAX?

When you travel and fridge temps go up......then park is flame still lit or do you have to relight?

    Need more info!
  • Possibly you are getting a down draft when you are moving. If you stop at a rest area, can you hear the flame operating, or is it out. I would check on the condition of the roof vent cover to make sure it is in good condition.
