My guess is that the furnace, being a bigger 35K BTU unit, needs more propane than everything else and so is more sensitive to a weak regulator.
The tech replaced the regulator with something that looks simpler and more industrial strength so maybe this won't happen again.
I had an experience where there was an oil trap in the propane line to the furnace that would act up in colder outside air temperatures but not when warm. Changed with viscosity.
