Suburban Furnace Ignition Issues

Question

I purchased a used 2001 Kit Companion a few weeks ago.  My issue is that the furnace will only ignite if the camper is connected to the truck (in which case the furnace operates perfectly).  If I am connected to a generator, my batteries (currently at 12.1V) or regular 120V power the blower will run for about 30 to 45 seconds and you can not hear the ignition even trying to function.  I have gone through all of the wiring and have found nothing obviously amiss.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Help please!!!!

Battery voltage is too low. Could be a bad battery.
When connected to 120 volts the converter is trying to charge the battery with nothing left to keep operational voltage up.
Have battery tested. I believe you will find it is shorted.
Check for corroded terminals and ground connection.

Yep.........battery12.1 volt is roughly 50% battery charge......not good.And hopefully your converter/charger is not bad.Disconnect battery positive cable..then check converter DC output...should be at least 13.2V DC (with 120V AC input)

After further diagnosis, it appears that the thermostat has failed.  I was able to complete the trip by moving the thermostat until the ignition clicked on.  My question now is, can I use any thermostat that has the same settings and number of wires, or do I need an exact replacement?  I do not see any issues that would arise from this.  The original is a Coleman - Mach.

What model is your thermostat?Many change thermostats out to Hunters.

I believe the replacement (newer version) is 7330G3351.  I can't seem to find the same exact one (7330-3351).
