There is a soft rubber square cover with 2 round figurations on it. Behind those round spots are reset switches. Push right there. It's possible the reset switches popped when the element overheated. Try that first. See what happens.

One more edit... did you put water in the tank after you installed the new element? if not, you probably burned the element out again? Just sayin' ... things do happen you know. The switch might have been on before you realized it. It only takes about 3 seconds to burn it out.
Also, my camper has 2 switches. One on the heater, the other inside the camper on the wall. Are both "on"?
