Surge protectors
Should we really use one for our 30 amp service and if so what is the best ones to get?

Yes!!! progressive is the best. Get the one with digital display it shows voltage amps hertz and error codes. I have the hard wired one. Even on my home hook up it pickup a low voltage incident. My neighbor lost every electrical device in his new 5er because of a surge. It is like insurance hope you never have to use it but you are covered.
