- houstonstrokerExplorerI bought a YI Camera from Amazon for the inside of my rig. It does several things for us. It stores video on motion and sends an alert. We don't full time yet and park the rig several miles away. I guess some of you have never heard of vandalism or thefts when you are not there? Also while camping I can see what the dog is up too. It has two way audio so I can talk to the dog if I desire. I have a mobile hot spot so it is always connected. Plus I like gadgets.
- wopachopExplorerThese are the wyze cam V2 with a weather resistant cover. I filled the electrical connections with dielectric grease before plugging it in. Then used hot glue around the small gap where the cord enters the outdoor-ish cover. Mounted to the trailer using aluminum strips and double sided tape.
Its lasted 10 hours of drive time. 1 hour of that was washboard dirt roads. I didnt use much tape as im still playing around with placement. Have them safety wired for when the tape fails. Theyve been rained and snowed on. Super windy here and so far the cameras are still working.
Not as good as the Ring camera for many reasons. In terms of price it was $25 camera, $8 cover, $7-12 Sd card, $5 for a longer cord. Starts to add up when the original plan was a cheap $20-25 camera.
Ive got 6 of these suckers now. 3 on the house and 2 on the trailer. Plan to put a 3rd on the trailer facing rear. I bought their "pan cam" for my moms house and its pretty good for $35. Can pan side to side and tilt and zoom. Good for watching pets during the day or alert you if someone enters the house of course. - Retired_JSOExplorerWe have 2 systems around our house. The rv has 3 dedicated cameras to it, 1 from the street, 1 from the rear and 1 at the door. One night, a car came into the culdesac, hit all 8 driveways. Broke into 4 cars and stole a truck. Although they didn’t break into our stuff, when the motion lights came on, I got a perfect video of one of the perps smiling at a camera, then waved. The police could have used that if they had a suspect but they didn’t. Found the truck 2 miles away stripped.

Why didnt police post this suspects face on local tv news?
Did the camera got licence plate number?
All I can sugest besides having visible cameras,
it might be good idea to have some HIDDEN ones at diferent angle to catch all the details.. - HTElectricalExplorer

Because the police don't give a sh!t about your personal property. I had my truck broken into and a $1,400.00 laptop stolen off the Mobile Desk that I used for work. Had facial recognition quality video of the Perp, and even verified where said perp lived. Presented video on CD to cops, and they couldn't even be bothered to call me, better yet actually arrest the little SH!T. When filling out the police report they did ask if there was a weapon (Firearm) stolen, and since the answer was "NO", they didn't care!!!! - Retired_JSOExplorerIt’s not because the police does not care. Breaking into cars and auto theft are small potatoes to take any real manpower. I live in a city that has on average 2 shootings a day and a murder every other day. An aggravated assault every 2 hours and 4 armed robberies a day. Add all the other discontent into the mix and they are a little short. I was the Police for over 30 years. If we happened to find someone with stolen property and such, the video could be used at trial but looking for the neighborhood tush-hog is a never ending story.
The cameras work like locks, to keep honest people honest. - 2manytoyzExplorerI have a 16 channel CCTV DVR at home. I started with a 4 channel, eventually got an 8 channel. Consequently, I have two DVRs that still work fine.
Our motorhome has a backup camera, and two turn signal cameras. These use a 5 pin round connector, instead of the usual BNC type connector often found on home security camera systems.
I believe they have the same signal level. I would need to tie into the two video wires in the 5 pin cable, and make a BNC adapter to connect to the DVR. I would add a dash camera too, which would be the fourth channel.
I've not seen anyone else do this yet, but looks like an easy project. I started upping my security after I had a camper stolen: http://2manytoyz.com/stolen.html
This video could also be useful if there's ever an accident while driving. - 2012ColemanExplorer II

They're afraid of dealing with all the trolls on here because it would cause them to loose 50% of their post content. What they don't realize is that it would probably pick up afterwards with people who really want to contribute without being marginalized. Can you say DutchmenSport?
This post is a perfect example of why this forum is dying a slow and painful death. I guess your parents never taught you that if you can't say anything nice, then keep your mouth closed. They were showing you what worked for them...not asking for your opinion. Perhaps their trailer is parked...who cares!
OP, great job. I live out in the middle of 50 acres and have cameras set up outside. Love seeing who is pulling into my driveway or watching the place when we are gone. - wopachopExplorerLittle update the cameras are still working. Have driven through rain and this camera in the pic was covered in snow for a couple days. They were not turned on at the time. But both fired up just fine this morning.
I squeezed dielectric grease into both of the power sockets at the rear of the camera. That might be mandatory for outdoor use where water hits the camera and the camera is facing slightly downward. The water drops hit the power cord and run directly into the power socket. - MFLNomad IIDidn't read all the thread, but someone mentioned the cameras being a grainy hard to see view, which is not true, at least not the Ring models. I have S&B perimeter covered with the latest Ring models, a couple cover 3 sides of my FW, parked at home. Mine will carry on a two way communication, and have a loud alarm, that I can sound, or talk to you, anywhere I have phone service. I can set for type of movement, and distance I want. Yes, I pay a yearly amount for all movement seen, to be saved.
When my FW leaves it's pad, next to drive, everyone around my area knows I am gone. I have noticed nosy neighborhood people snooping around a few times. It alerts my phone. I could yell at them, sound the alarm, likely scare the sht out of them, but has not been necessary YET.
