- MFLNomad IIHave you contacted Ring, and is it still under warranty? Even if a phone issue, they may be able to help or advise you.

It’s not because the police does not care. Breaking into cars and auto theft are small potatoes to take any real manpower. I live in a city that has on average 2 shootings a day and a murder every other day. An aggravated assault every 2 hours and 4 armed robberies a day. Add all the other discontent into the mix and they are a little short. I was the Police for over 30 years. If we happened to find someone with stolen property and such, the video could be used at trial but looking for the neighborhood tush-hog is a never ending story.
The cameras work like locks, to keep honest people honest.
Agree with everything but the last sentence. Honest people do not need anything to remain honest. But it does deter thieves looking for the easiest target. - MFLNomad II

I think many older folks have no idea concerning modern private security systems, which are high tech, cameras with top notch infrared, and easily operated from phone or laptop. Just this Christmas, there has been two instances close to me, where the metro police were asking for the help of private citizens with these type cameras. One case, over 100 cars vandalized, windows shot out, and Christmas decorations etc, damaged with ball bats. Yes, the 4 meth heads were seen, apprehended. Other case, a young woman driver, intoxicated, drove through an upscale neighborhood near me, hitting other cars, driving on lawns, driving through Christmas decorations. Her car stalled quit, front bumper on a lawn, so she and passengers abandoned ship, disappeared. Using plate on vehicle she was later found, but claimed her car was stolen. Again, police asked for people to check cameras. A relative of mine had the girl on camera, inside the car, outside the car, could clearly see her and others, plus could hear them talking and laughing. Yes, condemning evidence.
Jerry - GulfcoastExplorerI want to install an indoor wifi camera in my trailer so I can check on it when I'm not there. I'd like one that will send me a text if someone goes inside. Is there a camera that will send a text instead of an email notification?
- Hmm. It seems like the consensus is that the camera is mostly a value as a deterrent. I bet you can buy dummy cameras much cheaper that you can install on both sides of the RV and sleep easier. Just saying.
- LantleyNomadTechnology is a wonderful thing but it doesn't protect us from our own flaws.
Instead of going camping to get away from it all . we bring it all with us.
I have cameras at my stix and brix, but I don't have or want them on my RV.
Ring cameras have been hacked to the point they maybe a liability that allows bad guys access to your home vs. keeping them out.
Go camping to get away from it all. Leave your worries at home.
If my CG is so unsafe that I Need a camera I should have stayed home!
Do we really want to live in a recorded world? Has it come to that?
Has the Ring camera become our modern day security blanket? - CFergusonExplorer

Boy, all the cranks came out on this thread.
That's a fact. Reminds me of a bunch of kindergardeners that have nothing to contribute but have to be noticed anyway.
And to address the camera issue- someone hasn't been paying attention. Consumer security camera resolution/image quality is orders of magnitude better than it was just a few years ago. A quick search of youtube will impress those that expect grainy. - MFLNomad II

There are all sorts of cameras, and options. If motion is detected it will chime your phone/light it up momentarily and say motion detected. I can look at my cameras anytime while away, to see live view, or recorded history of any activity.
Ring cameras have security options, to keep from being hacked, just like your bank account on your puter. You have to use a password to keep secure.

That has not been the case in our neighborhood. I have been in charge of our neighborhood pool for the past 10 years. When I took over, I had security cameras installed since our neighborhood pool was located between 2 densely wooded lots and an easy target. Not long after the pool opened for the season that first year, we had a couple hop the fence around 3 am. The man quickly strips down and goes into the pool. The woman appears to be concerned about the cameras. She repeatedly points to the one directly in front of her and looks back and forward between it and the man in the pool. She finally relents, strips down and jumps in the pool. We did share the video footage with police after reporting the break-in.
We have had several occasions where folks look directly at the camera before jumping the fence. At night, it is very obvious they are functioning cameras. The lens is ringed by red glowing infrared lights.
The pool cameras (8 of them) continually record onto a 3 TB drive. We get about 18 days of storage on the 3 TB drive. I have been asked by local police for copy of the footage of the camera facing the street. The last time, they wanted to use it to determine whether or not their suspect did indeed drive into or out of the neighborhood.
