Tadi Backup Camera System

This is email I sent to Tadi Brothers today:

I am very disappointed in Tadi Brothers Tech Support and Customer Service.

I paid more than double what I could have with other systems based on recommendations on RV Net forum and the support from Tadi on product support and replacements.

I bought the two camera wireless system at first. When I took it to Best Buy to install, they said that wireless systems have a tendency of interference, etc. The installers at Best Buy said their installation price ($129 plus tax) was the same for wired or wireless and suggested the wired system providing better, clearer and dependable viewing.

Best Buy installed the wires, monitor and License Plate camera in my 2010 Toyota Sequoia. They will run the wires for the travel trailer when it gets warmer.

I told them that I did not want the monitor hooked up to my reverse and wanted to use the camera on the trailer to see traffic behind me. I would call this as "Monitor On All the time."

The first monitor has a clear beautiful picture and very nice.....the problem with the first monitor, the remote didn't work. (I held it within 8" and none of the buttons worked.) I had to use the On/Off button on the right side of the monitor to turn it off as I drove home. When I got home and tried to turn the monitor on with both the On/Off button on the monitor or the remote. I had to turn the Sequoia off and restart to get he monitor back on.

Tadi sent a second replacement monitor. I had Best Buy install it yesterday. The buttons on the monitor do not work. I tried both remotes to pick the one that works the best. I checked the batteries and they both read 3.0 V. Again, I held the remote about 8" away from the bottom of the monitor. One remote worked better than the other, but it took pushing the button four or five times to get any action. I pushed the button and if it didn't work would tried rolling my finger on the buttons.

With the second monitor, the monitor is capable of being on all of the time. The monitor comes on when I start the Sequoia. I need to use the remote to turn the monitor off while I'm driving. The On/Off button on the monitor doesn't work, When I get to my destination, I can turn the monitor back on using the remote.

I expect brand new equipment to work ALL of the time and the buttons on the monitor to work! It's brand NEW!

I talked with Tech Support today and the lady's attitude was argumentative. The monitor was installed by Best Buy, professional installers. They did NOT use the wire labeled to go to the reverse wiring. The monitor is capable of being on ALL of the time.

I am disappointed that Tadi doesn't do a bench test on replacement units. Could it be you got a bunch of defective units from China? I am also disappointed that there isn't better instructions explaining what the buttons do, etc.

I was told that another monitor was going to be sent to me AND that the unit will be tested. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the next one works correctly.

  • I find this news to be very disturbing as I was seriously considering one of their premium multi-camera systems. Thanks for posting your experience.
  • Follow up...

Within one hour of sending my email I received a phone call from one of Tadi's managers. He gave me his direct number and said that he would personally benchmark test the next monitor and check all of the buttons on the monitor and that the remote is fully functional.

Will keep you posted. I've read a lot of very satisfied comments from Tadi customers here on RV Net forums and this is the reason that I paid the premium to go with the Tadi Brothers system.
