Leave it on and ask your neighbors for help fixing it up when you get to wherever you are staying
Highly likely someone will gladly help, followed by a ton of others to help as well.
Next thing you know the camp fire is lit and a bunch of folks are gathered around with drinks, snacks and great conversation.
Before long you have long-term friends that email and send cards at Christmas!
Leave it on there and make like a noobie when you get there and ask for some help or act like you need it/ You will not regret it!
Many years ago my awning fabric tore and I cobbled it together until I got a job at Amazon 4 years ago. I ordered new fabric from JC Whitney and had it delivered to the camp ground.
I struggled with it for a few minutes and then ventured next door to ask if I could borrow the neighbor's ladder. Next thing you know 6 guys are there holding and shifting and adjusting and sliding the lod fabric off and the new fabric on!
The whole time there were lots of stories told and a bunch of laughing (mostly at my expense! In good humor of course) and joking. Before I realized it, working together we had the old fabric off and the new on in no time! Still holding up well today!
