temp patch on a cracked gray water pipe ??

I had a leak in my shower drain plumbing. There was a crack in the ring that you spin onto the drain fitting and I couldn't tighten it to get the rubber ring to seal. I used JB Weld and it's held up for over 10K miles of travel. My Mechanical Engr buddy said it wouldn't, but it did. :)

If it is a round smooth pipe you can reach around the Rescue Tape is a good product, Have used it.

if it's irregular (Like the valve body.. GOOP generally works but it needs to be DRY and I mean DRY for at least a couple hours.

Replacement is best choice.

I had two cracks in my grey tank, one of which was just as you are describing at the bottom out the outlet. I bought fiberglass resin and a mat of fiberglass. I put 7-8 layers on it and it hasn't leaked for years.

A fiberglass tape soaked in epoxy could be a good solution too, and it can be permanent. Glass band would provide a better mechanical strength than just a glue, holding parts from moving apart while on the road. The difficulty could be applying it under the pipe, because epoxy would drip off. Use a quality epoxy like West System (regular curing speed), available in most marine stores.

I keep a roll of Eterna-Bond on board for emergency roof repairs, but I've also found it useful for temporary black/gray/fresh tank repairs, as well as temporary repairs to various drain pipes and fittings. I've even used it to stop a leaking fresh water line by wrapping the leak with Eterna-Bond and then overwrapping it with mechanics wire.

Every rver should have a tube of this stuff. It comes in lots of verities such as marine, plumbers, shoe goop, etc.

It will stick to just about anything. I think this is how they get Teflon to stick to the pans. :B

Use a stick to spread it. It dries in a few hours. It is NOT silicon like so will stick to just about anything it touches. Guaranteed to stick to pvc.

It is available at most hardware stores or automotive stores. Don't worry about not finding "plumbers" goop. I think it all comes out of the same batch and they just label them differently.

Me too. Several layers of it will seal the crack and when you eventually fix it right, there's nothing in the way to take off.
(I do like the solder iron idea though!)

I would try this idea first.

Black ABS cement is pretty thick and you can even build it up in layers.
