Did you ever get around to trying to add an extension cable to that Solar 30 probe? I think that would be worth while attempting.

Good point about controller's own heat. The Solar30 and its siblings have the on board temp comp sensor in a little antenna that sticks up outside the case. Many controllers do have them internally though.
