Set your meter to test A/C voltage

Set at a range greater than 110 volts

Measure voltage between black wire and white wire
Should be 110 or so

Measure voltage between black and bare wire
Should be 110 or so

Measure between white and bare wire
Should be zero

NOTE!!!
IF YOUR ARE NOT SURE YOU CAN HANDLE THAT. DON'T DO IT!!!
IT CAN KILL YOU!!!!!
