tested the blue camco filter with a TDS meter

Studies were conducted at WHO and charcoal aggregates were found to be prone to housing mega quantities of virus and bacteria unless the component was changed regularly.

It would be expensive woo-wee but a final pass through a silver laden filter would be useful. I am still searching for an O3 ozone treater that could survive wet tropical conditions.

Proper dosing with O3 is ten thousand percent overkill against pathogens. And the 10,000% is not hyperbole. Algae and single cell lifeforms like amoebic dysentery and giardia are eliminated 101%.

But the devices are expensive and fragile. Dang.

What is the tds test just measuring the waters resistance? Always heard it was a poor conductor.

the blue filter is a filter to remove "dirt" and the charcoal to absorb chlorine. it does NOTHING for TDS or to soften the water. It does what it is designed to do.

I use the whole house style filters in line before my water softener just to keep the junk out of the softener. I have given some thought to an RO system but with my part time use of RV, it would seem I'd be changing the membrane more often then I'd care to.

With all this being said, I like the idea of bottled water so for drinking and ice cube making...I found the dispenser on Amazon that you can use the 3/5 gallon bottle on top, it makes ice and chills the water...perfect for us!

Yeah I think normally the RO would test around 11 here. Thanks for the reminder will ask the person in charge if I should change them. It's a 5 filter setup. Maybe it was single digits at a time I can't remember.

RO 23? You need to replace the membrane. Should be low single digits.

Drink and cook with bottled water. Issue solved.

no the test was for something the filter does not filter .. Keyword is the D in TDS. if it is dissolved the filter won't filter it. It will filter out solids. but not dissolved solids.

RO filters.. Well they are a bit pickier.

I have used my RV for hundreds and hundreds of nights over close to 10 years. I have never filtered the water. Only once did I encounter a problem. The water was cloudy and I did not use it. I think it had been tested and was safe but I did not want the silt in the tank and lines. I guess a filter would have been useful for that situation, but I think avoiding the water entirely was a better choice.

You can spend a lot of money on water filtration devices. Some of them even remove chlorine, which is a really bad idea. Instead I just use a Brita for filtering drinking water.

I'll throw in this question, how do you store your filter between camping trips? The blue filters do remove sediment and I always flush it out by running water through the filter from the discharge end, then I just let it dry out and then put the caps on it to keep out bugs.
