Thanks Professor - tried to give Champion Customer Support a call today to work out the details, but the wait time was over an hour. As their Santa Fe Springs facility is only about an hour away, am hoping to be able to just take the generators down to their shop and let them deal with it. Will let you know how it goes...
Got through to Champion Customer Support / Tech support right away this morning and was told the following from the Tech Support guy on the phone regarding the module upgrade:
"There is no software upgrade. The only difference is whether there is an internal circuit breaker or an external circuit breaker. If you are reading something about this on the internet, it is wrong. We are the manufacturer and there is no software upgrade."
The guy actually sounded a bit exasperated / belligerent about it, so I didn't push any further. This experience with Champion Customer support was quite contrary to what others have reported on this forum, and was not what I was expecting at all.:(
Well, that is contrary to what Jim Murphy at CPE recently told a customer that frequents this thread when he offered an upgraded module and stator. I know for a fact that the software changed or was improved several times as I was benefited by being able to test drive newer versions of the modules/software as they became available. I reported those results on this thread and quite a few owners took advantage of the module exchange offer made by CPE. It is all somewhere back in the pages of this thread.
SuperGen Products is a factory/company authorized distributor of CPE products, both new and refurbished. The software they are offering for older modules originated with the 2000i engineers and required their authorization to give SuperGen the programmer and software.
