I don't know if you have reviewed the maintenance procedure in the manual or not - just in case you have not, you can find it
here on page 14.
If you tap it with a hammer you may bend the pipe. I would
suggest spraying the parts with brake cleaner and/or PB Blaster to soften any gum and carbon. Then, using a small blade (like a putty knife or a sharpened flat screwdriver point) tap around the insert collar to pop it loose.
