When this post was initiated, before ownership, one question was... How reliable is this generator going to be.
Well, I just ran into two situations... A new tool repair guy in the next town who happens to repair Champion Generators.
Big Mike's Tool Repair Branford, CT He services the Connecticut region.
Anyhow, while driving by, I noticed he had a Champion 2000 Watt Inverter Generator outside. Now, I'd been there before just talking about generators. I had to stop again, as this one appeared to be a faded yellow, telling me that this thing may have seen some time running.
I was right. It was produced in July 2010, the fella who bought it, got it from Sam's in West Haven, CT. He uses it on his lunch truck at the Long Wharf in New Haven, CT where a bunch of lunch trucks serve up some of the best Spanish Quizines.
Anyhow, the reason it was at the shop was for a leaky carb. So, I offered my experience in the tear down, which I learned some of the stuff from the Professor, and my own personal experience. Big Mike added fuel to it and we could see a small drip in the bottom of the bowl where the nut holds it in place.
We started the Gennie with eco mode off, and it had a hard time running, the throttle was wide open, because you can hear the deep throat of the intake. We shut her down and there was this hiss sound from the muffler that lasted for several seconds.
Pictures below show the spark arrester.....
Left in their original size to show texture!

Above is the external cap....

Above is the screen inside, which must also be cleaned....
Below is a video, Big Mike tapped the muffler and the carbon blows out of the muffler, you can hear a change in the pitch of the generator.

Once the spark arrestors were removed, the generator ran like it was supposed to. With the severe hours placed on this thing, the weather this thing saw, the motor sounded like it was brand-new.
Very, very impressive. I am glad I ran into this shop and he had this generator outside, otherwise, I would have missed it.
