I just joined this forum after reading about 250 pages of this thread and purchasing a refurbished Red CPE 2000i (from SuperGen). I had a previous synchronous generator. It was a smaller but still noisy Homelite HG1800 (2250w surge). I mainly used it for tent camping, but was worried about noise at night.
Some might think this odd, but I currently plan on purchasing a portable AC for tent camping. Since I live in Texas, it can be uncomfortable sleeping at night in a tent. I read where a 5200 BTU AC ran fine.
Has anyone run anything bigger? I found a portable Honeywell 8000 BTU that claims 700 watts while running. It also states 6.3 amps, which would put it just above 700 watts. Any idea if the Champion could take the surge from this unit? It should run fine after the start up surge.
