My experience is that are similar in volume to the Honda on a DB meter, but they have a harsher tone, with some underlying harmonics or rattles that are a bit distracting. The champions also have an intermittent "burp" they do under small loads, although there is a DIY fix if you are ambitious and able.
No guarantee the twins will start your AC, but I would say at most you would require a start cap. They won't do it on Eco, where twin Honda's probably would. I'm not against any Chinese generators, but the larger engined 2100& 2200 watt models are much more capable and consistent IMO
I've had 3 of these, and upgraded the modules in 2 of them. Individually they won't run a WFCO 8955 converter when the batteries are below 50%, which is and was a HUGE disappointment to me. One will run the Micro or a toaster oven though.
