Otrfun, that's about it in a nut shell. However, champion is rated for 5 seconds at 2000 watts, while a Honda will do it fire 30 minutes. In rush is for 150 ms.
Honda clearly advertises their EU2000i as capable of producing 2000 watts for up to 30 minutes. However, you're saying the Champion 2000 inverter generator is only capable of producing the same 2000 watts for just 5 seconds?! If true (I have no reason to doubt you), this is a ridiculous difference in realworld capability.
Although you're setting a duration of 150 ms for inrush measurement, I observed one Honda EU2000i produce 53.5 amps of inrush current for almost a second (ECO mode off). For the sake of humor, one could use this result and simply shorten Champion's so-called 5-second "surge" test by just a second or two and claim the Honda EU2000i is capable of 6420 watts of "surge" output--lol!!
