I ended up picking up 2 - 73534i's (black units) with the pairing kit. 1 of these units will load up and run my 14A circular saw no problem . . .
Even a Honda EU2000i (with a lot of anecdotal evidence in this thread suggesting it has much, much more headroom than the "yellow" #73536i) struggles to start my 13 amp Craftsman circular saw with the ECO mode off. It typically overloads with the ECO mode on.
Honda rates their EU2000i as capable of a "surge" output of 2000 watts for 30 minutes (vs. 1600 watts indefinitely). FWIW, I've seen an EU2000i output over 50 amps (6000+ watts) of "inrush" current for almost a second.
Supposedly (based on comments in this thread), Champion rates their yellow 2000 watt inverter as capable of a "surge" output of 2000 watts for 5 seconds.
Big difference between 30 minutes and 5 seconds.
Curious, when does inrush current become surge current? After 10ms, 100ms, 500ms, 1 second, 1 minute??
