Good point. Surge and inrush are different.
Honda rates their EU2000i as capable of a "surge" output of 2000 watts for 30 minutes (vs. 1600 watts indefinitely). FWIW, I've seen an EU2000i output over 50 amps (6000+ watts) of "inrush" current for almost a second.
Supposedly (based on comments in this thread), Champion rates their yellow 2000 watt inverter as capable of a "surge" output of 2000 watts for 5 seconds.
Big difference between 30 minutes and 5 seconds.
Curious, when does inrush current become surge current? After 10ms, 100ms, 500ms, 1 second, 1 minute??
The champion was not and is not capable of anything over 1700 watts for more than a split second. And their continuous VA on a bad PF load is in the 1400 VA region. There is no comparison to a Honda. But the price doesn't compare either, right? I'd say the CPE half the generator for half the price.
Hybrid..... 2000 watts for 5 seconds. It's not half the generator. The only thing it lacks is the in rush ability of a Honda, and 2000 watts for 30 minutes. You have not looked at my videos. You have been advised to take up supergens free reprogram service.
You obviously have something wrong, fix it. We get it. My videos which I have posted show otherwise.
