Or you can fool the emc the bat voltage is low. Put a pot on the voltage line going to the emc. The emc may have a battery voltage sense line.
My Jeep Cherokee has a temperature sensor at the battery. As temperature increases the charging voltage drops. Another way to do it I guess. Mounted underneath the battery tray and touches the bottom of the battery. I don't know the operating parameters of it though.
