A simple 10 OHM 50 watt resistor between the wires which goto field terminals on alternator keep the check engine light from illuminating.
A Transpo 540HD voltage regulator now controls voltage. I removed the 2K ohm Voltage pot within this VR, and soldered on Wire to reach a 10 turn 2K ohm Bournes potentiometer mounted on my Dashboard, next to my voltmeter.
I can choose any voltage from 12.8 to 15.3v
The Check engine light does come on After a certain amount of time at 14.8v or higher, sometimes.
But next restart it goes out, and with 14.7v or below setting does not come back on.

So mission Accomplished, on the fly voltage regulation from the driver's seat.
