Advice:
Newer vehicles have complex interconnections between the alternator and ECU. One of the hardest circuits to fool is the "C" connection "Field Report". Why OEM decides to put the ECU in open-loop limp home mode if the alternator or regulator does not charge right is "Stupid Incorporated".
Poorer mileage, higher CO, and HC emissions, worse performance, it's like getting a flat tire and having the computer yank the fenders off, roll the windows down and start the wipers. Utter ignorance. Hookah rationale.
One of the things I like about the BORG is the ability to pre-set the regulated voltage before connection and re-start.
n your system Landy, how relevant is the correlation between dial numbers and the reality of the voltage set point? I.E. does "82" mean something around 14.45 volts - which of course must be repeatable to be valid...
