I used to ask Frank for loads of 911-04 and TVR 540 SP FLAT COMPENSATING regulators which did not have thermistor bias on the voltage divider zener network. Back in '91 I laid hands on several pounds of 2 ampere 500 volt NPN transistors which fit his circuit perfectly. End of driver circuit weakness.
I also sent him something like 30 sheets of Berquist's best Sil-Pad to mount my reg boards to the heatsink. The newer 2000 Sil-Pad is impressive. I did have some beryllium sheet and media but that stuff is dicey to work around. I used it to sink my massive plating rectifiers to massive copper heat sinks. Good old Barney Kaplan supply (Detroit).
These R&D dream resources have all dried up. Pity.
For heatsinks meant for solid state relays but can be used for many devices, check out mpja.com monthly specials. They have nice easy to mount heatsinks for $2.95 but shipping costs can be cruel unless you buy in bulk.
