Solar aficionados I'm guessing won't agree BUT for those of us who regularly camp under shade I don't see the love affair for solar panels permanently mounted on the roof vs portable panels that can be moved around. :h Common sense says there's going to be FAR less heat build up inside the camper if it's sitting all day in heavy shade - just where permanently mounted solar panels, whether tilted or not, don't want to be. :R Move the trailer into full sun so those panels can perform to their max and heat build up inside the camper will be significant. :E The solution? - portable panels that can always be moved and tilted to sit with full exposure to the sun while the trailer itself sits in full shade. :B Sure, it takes a bit more effort but I'd rather move a panel or two once in awhile than climb up on the roof just to tilt panels that can't see the sun anyway. :R Obviously, for those who have no choice because of location to always park their rig in full sun (desert) I can see how panels permanently mounted on the roof might make sense if they're willing to climb up on the roof to tilt the darned things but for those who don't it seems to me portable panels would be a far better choice. JMO. ;)
