An asphalt roadway can get up near 200 degrees in direct sunlight when it's above 100 degrees in the desert. Your tires are going to be close to the temperature of the roadway.
I've measured my tires at 140 degrees in the desert. If you don't have other options, at least slow way down when the temperature is way up.
