This is a lot of why I opted to just replace the entire unit. No guess work involved. I spent a lot of time and energy troubleshooting my water heater just to get everything fixed and then have the damn thing crack due to age. Given the age of this furnace and what it would cost to even have someone look at it I'm safer just starting from scratch with a brand new unit.
The install is much easier than some of the other repairs I have done. For once the propane inlet is actually still in the same place on the new furnace as it was on the old so that's a great start.

The picture was deceiving. When I actually compared the measurements they are the exact same size.
