Toilet flange removal

Just because I hate watching the Packers win, I was thinking about your issue and that picture. More than likely that flange is not flush on the floor. That's what caused those bolts to break the flange (toilet did not sit square on floor) and is now allowing you to put the fix under the flange instead of on top. Just a guess, but I think that is the true cause of the problem.

Success! Found a very thin repair device at our local ma/pa rv shop (Ericksons RV) that slipped under the exsting flange. Holes didn't quite match up so drilled new ones. Replaced the donut seal as well. Tightened it up and all solid. Thanks for everyones help!

If you do use a repair kit it is possible that the RV toilet will now sit higher than what the rubber gasket will bridge allowing gas and fluid to seep past. Or, (more likely) the toilet will no-longer sit flush on the floor, but only on the rubber donut. In a house a wax ring will fix these issues because there is so much squeeze to a thick wax ring. An RV uses a rubber donut instead with limited give.

So you may have to replace the flange, or you may have to bring the floor up (i.e. tile), glue two donuts together, or use a wax ring and hope for the best.

We all are a little strange.

Mine was attached with a threaded fitting, also. The repair flanges don't have to be installed underneath the existing flange, they are usually fastened on top of the existing flange, into the floor with screws, aligned with the existing, broken flange's openings.

You have another option.

Ask at Lowes in the plumbing section to see a neoprene sleeve clamp. If you have access to the pipe you could cut it several inches below the floor, create a new pipe with flange, then hook it all back up with the sleeve.

Just tell the guy at Lowes the above and he can create it for you. I would use this option as the last one though.
